I came across Text Unlimited and found this great link program called “ViralTags”. Nope, it’s not a meme, though there’s some sort of tagging involved here. But you can call it a meme - with benefits. I have changed some original terms used to avoid confusion. I’ve also included some definitions of terms below to make things easier to understand. Enjoy!

Definition of terms:

• Anchor Text - Also known as Link Text, the clickable text of a hyperlink. Search engines often look at anchor text to determine what the link is about and thus infer the subject of the site to which the link points. Anchor Text can be your site or blog title or any words that would decribe your site or blog. (Ex. Transformers Blog, Autobots Online Dating, Robots In Disguise)
• URL - An acronym for “Uniform Resource Locator,” this is the address of a resource on the Internet. World Wide Web URLs begin with http:// (Ex. http:// www.yourwond3rrblogg. com)
• Ping (blog ping) - A notification to a web site that a blog has been created or updated.
• Search Engine - see Google, Yahoo, MSN, Live, Technorati, and so on…
• SERP - (Search Engine Results Page) The page of results that a search engine returns.
• Google PR (PageRank) - The PageRank system is used by the popular search engine Google to help determine a page’s relevance or importance.

One of the secrets to getting your web portal listed in all the search engines is to make sure that all of your pages are linked together. If the search engine spiders come to your site and can’t find all the pages, you’ll risk missing out on valuable listings and traffic.

You need to strategically link all of your pages together. This doesn’t mean that you have to use a site map although that is one way to do it. But the downfall of sitemaps is they sometimes get a high ranking because of all the links they display!

So what you want to do is a page to page linking strategy. Each time you write an article or piece of content, you link to the most recent “other” piece of content you’ve written and your main page. This strategy is simple, effective and it works.
